Check This Out....

I love this girl's name: Harriet. Isn't it fitting? She is one of the nine new children that we have taken in here at Rafiki. Unfortunately, her hair was shaved today, but I don't think any of us will be able to forget it :) I am looking forward to getting to know each one of these precious little ones better. For the next couple of weeks, they will spend a lot of time with just their new mamas and families so that they can bond with them. They seem to have already made a smooth transition.

Below, you see Abiba - another new little girl - learning to say grace before her meal.

On a side note, at the end of my teaching time today, our class was interrupted for a visitor. When a visitor enters the room, the students stand and welcome the guest. As the guests were exiting the room, my director whispered to me, "That's the First Lady's Secretary." Usually, the village requires prior notice before a visit, but there are some people who are welcome any time, announced or not!

Dre, Thanks for the wonderful and precious update. That is so cool that you all are having such an impact that even the present leadership notices. All praise and glory to God. BTW, can't wait to see what a great day tomorrow will be. Love and miss you sooo much, dad

The picture of Abibi is priceless! Although I can see an adult there teaching her to pray, she is intently watching the little owner of those pudgy hands to her right to see what to do. It's amazing to know you are beginning to guide kids at such a young age to follow after God.

Oh so adorable! ....honestly I can't think of anything else to say.

God has given you a wonderful mission to be a part of. I'll add these 2 to my prayer wall.

How are you doing? Any new cultural suprises?

Hey Kara! Thanks for keeping up with me. I'm doing well - enjoying myself immensely. I know that is in large part due to everyone's prayers. So thank you!

I think my new post will tell you a couple more of the cultural surprises. It's definitely interesting and hard to understand another culture - especially hard to understand and not criticize.

Tell everyone at BSF hi.
