Humbled

As I said before, every week we have a Bible study with all of the missionaries at the village. We just finished studying Psalm 53, which is David discussing the core of our hearts as humans. He says, "The fools says in his heart, 'There is no God'" and "God looks down from heaven....to see if there are any who understand, any who seek after God....there is no one who does good, not even one." I was reminded of my heart without Christ. I like how one of the men summarized it. He said our hearts are so dead and so corrupt, that, on our own, we would refuse the greatest offer EVER given to us - Jesus who has come to take away our sins. In our flesh, we say "No thanks." Even to accept this offer, we need the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts.

I am so thankful for God's work in my life. He offers us hope and a future. Verse six of Psalm 53 ends with this same hope. David says, "Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad."

We started studying Romans at church. Last night I was reading and studying Romans 1. Yes, we are corrupt but praise God that we have been given salvation, grace and hope through His son.
