I'm still here!

On Thursday, I had the privilege of going with Carolyn and twelve of our Rafiki children to Ssanyu Babies’ Home. We took this excursion because these twelve children came from this particular Babies’ Home. At first, the children were really shy and subdued. But, at first sight of the babies, they opened right up. They were so eager to hold their “sisters and brothers.”

This is Kato and Babirye – twins – and they are standing in front of the beds they had when they were here. Kato says he still remembers.
Sophie, William, and Molly are sitting at the same table they were seated at when Carolyn first laid eyes on them.
These children are sitting at a table similar to the one they sat at when they were just toddlers. Although, Carolyn says the Babies’ Home has made tons of improvements since these children were here.
Of course, their favorite part was holding the children. I was surprised at how the workers allowed the children to hold and play with the babies. Then, Carolyn said they were bounced around just as much as infants and toddlers – I forgot about that.
They treated our (their) children like honored guests. They gave each one a huge bowl of cookies and sweets and a soda. They also gave our boys and girls new shoes, books, and stuffed animals. It was neat to see how proud they were of how these children are growing up.

At the end, the Rafiki children sang “How Firm a Foundation” and we left to go home. I actually think one of my favorite parts was driving in a packed car with children on my lap. It was the cutest thing to hear the children’s conversations, questions, and laughter on the way there and back. They are such normal kids with questions like “Are we almost there?” every two seconds. I was so grateful to have this opportunity and truly see how the Lord has hand-picked each of these children to be at Rafiki at this time for His specific purpose. Our God is truly amazing!
